Annual Report describes a year of sustained activity

The creation of UNU International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH) in Kuala Lumpur and the designation of four new associated institutions – two in the US, and one each in Germany and Thailand – were among the highlights of a year of sustained activity for United Nations University as detailed in the  2006 Annual Report.

"The ongoing development of UNU has enabled us to become the international "network of networks" that was originally envisaged by the founding committee for the university," wrote outgoing Rector Hans van Ginkel in his introduction to the report.

He said that support for the institutional development of UNU was evidenced by the endorsement of 126 UN Member States who co-sponsored the biennial resolution on UNU adopted by the Second Committee of the 61st session of the UN General Assembly in December 2006.
