Applications open for summer academy on social vulnerability UNU Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS) is calling for applications for next year's Summer Academy on Social Vulnerability, which will take place July 27-August 2 at historic Schloss Hohenkammer near Munich. The summer academy provides about 20 outstanding PhD candidates from all over the world a platform to present and discuss their research with leading international experts and scholars in social vulnerability, as well as senior scientists from UNU and Munich Re Foundation. The academy is designed to advance the science of social vulnerability by discussing state-of-the-art research needs and strategies to address academic, policy and practical challenges and knowledge gaps. Keynote lectures by leading academics and practitioners, poster sessions, PhD presentation sessions, working groups, conceptual exercises, role play, and informal discussion are designed to maximize the interaction and innovative problem-solving among participants. Applications must be received no later than January 15, 2008. |
