Deepak Nayyar keynote speaker at WIDER jubilee conference UNU World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER) has released the programme for its 20th anniversary conference: WIDER Thinking Ahead: The Future of Development Economics.
The two-day event will be held at Helsinki's Marina Congress Centre and will bring leading researchers and policymakers to assess the current state of development economics and to discuss new and emerging issues, how research can address these questions and promising methods for advancing the frontiers of research and practice. Keynote speaker will be University of Delhi vice-chancellor Deepak Nayyar, a UNU-WIDER collaborator on several projects involving globalization and global governance. The conference, scheduled for June 17-18, will cover a range of topics, including growth, trade and finance for development; poverty and inequality; strategies for poverty reduction; conflict; and economic policy-making for development. Presentations will deal not only with current research issues but will also identify the challenges and dilemmas which are likely to occupy researchers and policymakers.
The conference is open to younger researchers as well as established scholars, and WIDER actively encourages the participation of nationals from developing countries. Papers from the conference will be disseminated through the UNU-WIDER website, and a selection will be published in WIDER books and special issues of journals. |
